Russia Makes Serious Threats


Russian bombers buzz US military targets, fly near US mainland; & threats to aim rockers at Europe.

President Putin on Thursday repeated his threat to aim Russian rockets at former Soviet satellite states if U.S. missile defense facilities are deployed there.

"Our experts consider that this system threatens our national security; we are obligated to react to this."

The next day Russia Bombers buzzed above US Aircraft carrier in the Pacific (picture, below) details.

Privately, U.S. officials have acknowledged that they are concerned about Moscow's increasingly adversarial stance, but making no mention of US plans to put missile bases on Russia's border.

The banking industry is trying to convince the federal government to assume some of the risk of their bad subprime loans.

Proposals include widening the scope of FHA-insured loans and/or making it easier for banks to write off unpaid loans as tax breaks and asking for immunity from civil lawsuits from investors who hold mortgage-backed securities.

Cheap low-rate credit given to banks is not being passed on to homeowners nor consumers, small businesses, etc. In fact, some home loans, car loans, and credit card rates have gone up. details

Bomb in Syria Kills Militant Sought as Terrorist

Israel claims to fears reprisal after Hezbollah chief killed, while increasing Gaza assaults.

Israel put its embassies and other interests abroad on high alert and reinforced troops on the Lebanese border on Thursday after the assassination of Hezbollah's top guerrilla commander.

Syria and others condemns air attack inside it's country.

Hezbollah and others accused Israel of killing Imad Moughniyah with a car bomb in Damascus on Tuesday. The Israeli government rejected the charge, although its Mossad spy service had long regarded Moughniyah as a "terrorist mastermind".
Mr. Mugniyah, 45, was suspected of planning the 1983 bombings of the American Embassy and a Marine Baracks in Beirut; the hijacking of a T.W.A. jetliner in 1985; and a series of high-profile kidnappings in the 1980s, the death of over 100 Jews in Buenos Aires. Some say he was a terrorist; others say he was a resistence fighter, fighting against invasion of his country.
