Insider on Fed raises "Serious" Questions

U.S. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd on Wednesday expressed concern that JPMorgan Chase & Co Chairman Jamie Dimon held a Federal Reserve Bank of New York board seat while trying to acquire Bear Stearns.

With support from the Fed and the Treasury Department, Bear Stearns Cos Inc. has agreed to be sold to JPMorgan for about $10 a share. The week before the stock was trading at $171.50 per share

As part of the deal, the Fed agreed to guarantee up to $30 billion of Bear Stearns' assets.

The jump in J.P. Morgan's shares , due to the bailout, added $12.8 billion to its market capitalization.

Dodd called the deal an "unprecedented arrangement,"

40% ownership of company to be transferred without a shareholder vote; 1/3 shareholders employees, details.
