McClellan Testifies to Judiciary

Former White House spokesman, now Bush critic,
decried an insular and secretive White House

Scott McClellan testified before House Judiciary Committee and said the White House lied about the leaking of a CIA officer's name and "overstated" intelligence in the rush to war in Iraq.

The Bush administration "sold the nation on the premise that Iraq was a grave and gathering danger" by using intelligence reports that were "overstated" and "overpackaged.

A scandal in which he felt abused by passing on false information was the leaking of the identity of an intelligence officer, which was done to try to discredit a war critic, details.

These Western Oil Giants were granted extraordinary no-bid contracts, meaning the companies did not have to compete with their counterparts in China, Russia, and India.

It is not yet clear what role the United States played in awarding the contracts; there are still American advisers to Iraq’s Oil Ministry.
