This "CIA Leak case," is about White House attempts to discredit a critic of this False intel Iraq, former ambassador
Joseph Wilson, trying to discredit him by exposing the fact that his wife worked as an undercover agent for the CIA

Why the White House thought former ambassador Joseph Wilson could be or should be discredited because his wife was a CIA agent is not clear. (!?). But it proved to be enough of a red herring to lead the press around by its nose.

Rather than the content of Joseph Wilson's statements being considered, his wife's employment as an undercover
CIA agent was a prime time news topic for more than a year leading up to the War in Iraq.

It seems quite an extraordinary treachery for the government to attempt to discredit someone, "one of their own," for this reason.

We can not be a judge and jury -- but a judge and jury is certainly needed to sort this all out.

The disclosure was made in a newspaper column entitled "Mission to Niger" written by Robert Novak, and published on July 14, 2003, background info .

Wilson's criticism of this False intel Iraq had been published one week earlier, in The New York Times on July 6, 2003. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage gave this information to columnist Novak.

(No charges were every filed against Armitage; Irving 'Scooter,' Libby was the only White House official to go to jail for this. Armitage leaded to Novak and Libby (and others) leaded to other reporters;Libby was found guilty of perjury for lying about this.

But these leak ers were very careful and always conscious in trying 'to cover their butt,' and carefully split hairs while releasing this information, apparently aware they were violating the law.

On that same day of this Air Force One trip to Africa, where White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer testified to Fitzgerald that Bartlett was talking, above, about Valerie Plame.

He, thus, has to be one of the 'senior administrative officials" asking reporters to pursue who in the CIA sent Joseph Wilson to Niger, during this trip to Africa and a few day prior with press releases.

Although the tactic with these very first attempts to discredit Joseph Wilson did not entail specifically mentioning his wife's name or that his wife was a CIA agent: Reporters (like Dickerson & Cooper) were encouraged to investigate 'who at the CIA sent Wilson to Africa."

Although on this day of Bush starting his trip to Africa, July 11, 2003, in his second reference to this info, Bartlett did say it was "Wilson's wife," who sent him.

Note: It's against the law to reveal the identity of an undercover CIA agent, but a million words of excuses have been made by Rove and others that they didn't actually mention her name and a millions words of false information about whether this knowledge was actually classified knowledge or not; and a million words trying to say it was common knowledge that Valerie was a CIA agent, lying that she even told people herself.
